Advance Family Planning’s (AFP) impact report, The Power of Advocacy, marks the culmination of 13 years of family planning advocacy across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The report traces AFP’s history, approach, and impact. Fueled by a diverse network of dedicated advocates, AFP achieved nearly 3,000 hard-fought advocacy gains at every level of government, potentially benefiting more than 190 million women of reproductive age since 2009. Between 2012 and 2021, AFP mobilized $169.7 million in domestic funds for family planning. More than 300 organizations in 42 countries are applying AFP’s advocacy approach, SMART Advocacy. The Power of Advocacy also shares recommendations to maintain and grow family planning advocacy well beyond the life of the initiative, which ends in 2023.
